I post occasionally on Neo Magazine's forum and there is a common thread in many posts about the misconceptions of anime and manga.
For starters: anime is the animated cartoons, manga is comic books. Where it gets confusing is one the main distributors of anime in the UK is called Manga Entertainment (mostly Manga for short). So people see Akira on DVD and say 'ooh thats manga'.
'Anime is for kids / teenagers why won't you grow up?' I'm 27 I have no plans of giving up Anime, in fact my regular income allows me to watch far more than I ever could in my teen years. In the west cartoons have largely been the domain of Disney. Disney focuses on kids, which they are welcome to do, but as they are the 'Hover' of animation here people think animation = Disney = kids stuff. They don't see that animation is a media like print or live action cinema, they see it as a kids only genre. This thought process has so many swiss cheese holes I don't know where to start. One thing I will say in response 'Is the Simpsons just for kids?'
Another misconception is that anime is for perverts and is well perverted. There are two reasons for this. The more obvious is that if you have a mind set that anime is a genre not a media then people who like Patlabor or Appleseed automatically like Legend of the Overfiend or worse. This falls down against the fact that many anime fans are reasonably normal people. The more subtle reason is cultural differences. Different cultures have different balances in what they find acceptable. In the US some law makers would like to ban GTA for the 'Hot Coffee' (sex) scandal. In Germany they would like to ban it for the extreme violence. What Japanese populace finds acceptable, might seem disturbing or 'wrong' elsewhere.
Just my tupence.
I am (mostly) not a pervert I just like anime

Ghostly Trees
All the trees without leaves seemed to have frost on them making them white is contrast to others which were almost black. I had rework the lighting alot to compensate for the poor light today.

Remember your camera!
I went to visit my sister today. It has been a beautiful day, with wonderful lighting and mist. I forgot my camera and my phone is appallingly bad.
