Imagine you have a client, that doesn't know what they want, but wants something cool. They have surfed the net and like everything from minimalism to futurism to urban to retro, but all at once, and as the moment takes them. They can't decide, because the vision changes on a daily/hourly basis and it is so very very vague. I could rip my hair out! You know the worst thing? its ME!
I'm my own worst client.
You see usually with a client I rarely ever know exactly what they want, so my initial concepts are more range finding fire than final designs. I use them as test of how well I understand their needs and wants. One of the great things about clients is that you leave them at work and you can if you like complain about them in the pub.
Being your own client should be great, after all who else is going to like your design more? Wrong! I am perhaps to self critical, I like a lot of different, often contradictory, styles and I am procrastinator extraordinaries. The only way I seem to be able to win is if a manage some how to throw a dart in the feeling or aim I have and run with it.
Argh! I just needed to get that off my chest.
