Tornado Dry an nice gadget for flat owners

2nd February 2009 - Category: Life,Tech and Computers

I live in a maisonette, basically a flat or apartment with it’s own front door. Benefits like not having to buzz people in and so on. Although I have a rather nicely sized two bed, I find in the darker months dry clothes to be a real problem. This winter I had a problem where I was using up clothes faster than I could wash and dry them. I am single working guy so I can’t take advantage of drying days during the week (I have my own garden). However I have no space for a Tumble Dryer.

Enter the Tornado Dry I saw this gadget mentioned whilst looking for table top tumblers. It was far cheaper than any tumbler and promised high efficiency drying to (I do like my Eco products). Frankly it does exactly what it says on the tin. One thing I have noticed that negatively impacts dry is heavy loading of it. To the point that half loading it seems to dry clothes in less than half the time. One benefit over tumble dryers is that you can check on how dry the clothes are whilst it is running. The timer works well. It does vent a lot of moist hot air, so I shut it in the Kitchen and open the window when I am running it.

Is it time to move on from my Ka?

16th January 2009 - Category: Life

I passed my driving test in March 2004, I quickly bought an old Citroen AX. I HATED IT. I had never quite grasped how having a decent reliable car can affect your driving confidence and enjoyment before. So the hunt was on for a better car and really a reboot of my ‘first’ car. Enter the Ford Ka!, I purchased mine with a trade in of the AX in September 2004, the car was sooo much better than that awful little AX. For a driver with little experience the Ka not only gave me confidence, but made me appreciate and enjoy driving. Now the Ka was far from new, it is in fact a 96 P reg. This month the Ka will turn over on 100,000 miles and it does feel older now. However like a much loved pet I am finding it hard (especially when I get behind the wheel) to move on. I know its days are numbered and that I should trade up whilst I can, but fear of the unknown gnaws at the back of my mind.

Mad Skillz

Seems like youngsters with talent greater than mine are getting younger and younger. DJ Sara and Ryusei would be younger than me if they combined their ages then doubled it.

Alaska Woot!

I am in very sunny and hot Alaska! it is freaking awesome. Jeremy and Iris are great hosts, Jeremy’s lovely parents (Loren & Linda) are putting me up. I went to UAF today and visited the Museum. They have a really beautiful place, that cost a lot, but I personally think is a great testament to the Alaskans.
