Is it time to move on from my Ka?
16 Jan 2009
I passed my driving test in March 2004, I quickly bought an old Citroen AX. I HATED IT. I had never quite grasped how having a decent reliable car can affect your driving confidence and enjoyment before. So the hunt was on for a better car and really a reboot of my ‘first’ car. Enter the Ford Ka!, I purchased mine with a trade in of the AX in September 2004, the car was sooo much better than that awful little AX.

Goodbye 1up and EGM
13 Jan 2009
One of my regular rituals is checking the feeds on Friday for 1up Yours and the 1up show. Much like Buzz Out Load, it is great hearing a group of professionals with the limiters off. EGM was an institution, but unfortunately it was owned by the sick Ziff Davis and in a far less magazine friendly country. When I was over in Alaska in 2007 I noticed how poor access to computing and gaming magazines.

Valkyrie of the Battlefield
6 Jan 2009
Happy 2009 you all!
My good friend John got me a GameStation voucher for Christmas. So just after Boxing Day I headed into the Kirkcaldy to see what I could get with it. I managed to pick up Valkyria Chronicles for tidy price of £19.99. ‘Bargain’ I thought.
I am no strategy fiend, in fact I am pretty bad at them. I have tried a couple of RTSs in the past and a strategy RPG in the form of Ring of Red for the PS2.

Just the Name were down for a day-ish. They are back up now and so is my site.
Thanks James for the heads-up.
Does anyone actually visit my blog?

Hi folks,
if there is anyone actually there, could you post a we comment and pimp your own blog?
Cheers

Thank you Emusic
28 Oct 2008
I have been using Emusic for over a year now. It has allowed me to catchup with some old artists, find some new ones and support ones I already know. I am now getting down to the unknowns in my ‘to buy’ list. Thanks to Emusic I bought some albums by Venus Hum and Way Out West. It is wonderful to find some smashing new music and they are certainly that.

Updating the site skin
27 Oct 2008
Hi All,
it was always my intention to have a nicely adaptable theme that I could grow over time.
I am trying to improve the way comments work, they now support Gravatars. I am trying to make the form elements more integrated. If anything looks strange I am probably working on it. I have changed to new Flickr and Deviantart widgets. The DA widget has problems with my Stamps so if you get a dead image symbol it is probably the reason.

Got Wood?
21 Oct 2008
I guess wood and electronics have a shaky history, with the likes of fake wood effect as seen on the Atari 2600. However I really like natural materials. iWood from Miniot is a great example of wood in a modern and attractive design. Also love WoodStation by Sebastian Wallet. I can really see me owning both, although I am no iPod lover to the iWood is less likely. I love hi-tech futurist devices, but tactile feed back has always pushed my buttons and a nice material like wood gives that.

Aiwa AM-NX9
15 Oct 2008
I recently purchased an Aiwa AM-NX9 from Ebay. It’s a Net MiniDisc from the brief period that Aiwa was branch of Sony before being shut down.
Sony had hoped that AIWA could become their new youth orientated brand to combat Apple and its own fading brand name. Sony at this time was serious limited by its music and movie departments demands. They couldn’t easily get MP3 support for MiniDisc let alone launch their own.
